If they don’t use any of these tools, you might have to make a phone call early in the morning.

You Have Food Poisoning for the 7th Time

I’m lying down in the dark and I can hardly look into the light. My father has a broken pipe and his kitchen is flooded. I need to take the day off to drive over there and help him clean up and figure out how to fix it.

Our internet at home is out and I don’t know when it will come back on. I called the internet company and apparently someone hit a cable while doing construction and they’re working on fixing it. If it comes back online later, I’ll let you know, but as of right now, I’m going to have to take the day off. I witnessed a hit-and-run accident on the 5 this morning and I stopped to make sure everyone was ok. I’m tied down with the police officer and the injured person as a witness right now. Hopefully, this never happens to you, but if it does, this is a solid reason to call out of work.

I’m going to take it easy and see if I can get it to go away. I don’t want to get the whole office sick, so I’ll update you later if I think it’s safe for me to return tomorrow. It’s rare a manager questions someone who claims to have food poisoning unless there is a pattern of using this excuse. It’s also not common to see the doctor for this so most people don’t ask for a doctor’s note. This is another one that most people won’t ask questions about. Similar to taking care of a sick child, family emergencies can cover anything from helping a parent or taking care of any family member.
